Blinds in Parktown North

Village-scale streets, deep gardens and big glazed openings onto green outdoor rooms.

Parktown North sits a street or two from Parkhurst and shares its bones: modest frontages, long stands and gardens that have had eighty years to grow up around the house. What has changed is the back. Almost every second home here has been opened up to the garden with sliding or folding glass, and the mature trees that make the suburb beautiful also make its light unpredictable — dappled and forgiving in December, low and blinding once the leaves are down.

That seasonal swing is why we lean on adjustable products here. A venetian or a day/night blind lets you change your mind at four o'clock in June without changing the blind. Where a glazed opening faces north or west with no tree cover, we will usually recommend exterior shading first and interior blinds second.
