Blinds in Greenside

Cafe-strip living, cottage stock and clever extensions on compact stands.

Greenside is Parkhurst's cousin: the same 1930s and 1940s cottage stock, the same clever rear extensions, and the same walkable strip of restaurants that keeps people in the suburb rather than moving out of it. The stands are compact and the neighbours are close, which puts two jobs on one window — privacy and shading — more often than anywhere else we work.

That combination is what day/night blinds were made for: line the bands up for privacy when the lights go on, offset them during the day to keep light and view. Where a boundary is very close we will often pair a sunscreen roller for the day with a blockout behind it for the evening, on one double bracket.

The Three O’Clock Book

Our guide to sun, heat, glare and privacy around here: the real December and June sun angles, what they do to each elevation, what we would fit at every window and the honest catch with each. Written for Greenside houses as much as for Parkhurst ones.
